I hope everyone is having a lovely Monsoon season and that the end to the summer was a good one. No doubt everyone is busy getting prepared for the season ahead which is approaching very quickly! A round up of updates for Jaipur Remedial Therapies follows....
Full Moon Sound Meditation Session Monday 24th
Quite a few of you have been asking about the sound meditation and so I'm letting you all know that we have our Full Moon sound Bath collaboration happening this coming Monday with the Art Ghar from 6.30pm to 8pm. I've already shared it with many of you but here it is for anyone who doesn't know or needs the reminder. This will happen at their studio in Shyam Nagar.
You can book with the Art Ghar direct - +91 6377-846798
The session is a lovely experience with a mixture of reflection, then a guided meditation followed by the sound bath with the focus upon the influences of the moon.
This is the last opportunity to attend sound meditation for some time as my trip to the UK is fast approaching.
J.R.T closed from 1st September to 8th October
It's that time again where I will be heading to the UK for my therapy work for 5 weeks. I'll be away from Tuesday 1st September, returning on Thursday 8th October.
I have spaces from tomorrow onwards. My last working day will be Monday 31st August. J.R.T will be open over the Rakhi weekend to accommodate people for their therapy sessions before I travel to the UK for the 5 weeks so there's a lot of opportunities to get booked in before I go.
Whilst i am away it will still be possible to purchase Indi-ssentials products and you're welcome to get in touch with any exercise or well being related questions.
New modalities from October
There's quite a few new things happening from October with regards to the studio. Our regular sound meditation classes will be back up and running and if demand requires, we will start the morning sound meditation sessions once again. This is a lovely opportunity to set you up for the day ahead. The schedule will be created and shared end of September.
Inversion table and incorporation of inversion table at the studio
We're introducing a new modality with the introduction of our Inversion table which can be incorporated into your deep tissue/remedial therapy session in a longer session. We begin with the inversion table at the beginning of the session and can incorporate it at the end as well to decompress the spine further after the session.
An inversion table is where you lay on a piece of equipment and lean back so that you are at an angle, upside down, fully supported by the inversion table. You simply hang there, with your body fully secure and ankles held comfortably in place and let gravity do the rest.
Benefits of inversion table include;
- Relieves pressure on the spine by de-compressing and stretching it out. Helpful for disc problems.
- Relieves tight lower back tension.
- It provides a traction for the back so it can be helpful for chronic pain and conditions like ankylosing spondylitis or sciatica.
- Improve spinal health and flexibility,
- Increase circulation to the back, neck and head.
- Especially helpful for chronic back pain.
Introducing cupping
Cupping will also be available as part of our treatment package from October and can be used in conjunction to our deep tissue/remedial massage therapy. We use a blend of dynamic cupping, this is where you move the cups over the muscles and static cupping which is where you place the cups and leave them for a period of time.
It's another way to support getting into the muscles and relieving and relaxing the tension, especially if we have a tight area that may be putting up some resistance. Cupping uses a suction action which is the opposite of massage/myofascial release/soft tissue release where we are applying pressure down. A combination of modalities can be very beneficial for acute issues where we are trying to release the problem as much as possible.
Benefits of cupping include;
- Relaxes muscles.
- The upward suction action, helps to reduce restriction in the muscle fibre.
- Increased circulation which reduces pain and promotes healing.
- Reduces inflammation.
- Increases range of motion.
We look forward to work with the cupping treatment with some of you from October.
Price increase from October
From October there will be a slight price increase, 60 minute sessions will increase by 200Rs and 90 minutes by 300Rs. These prices have been in place for new clients over the last few months but is now being rolled out to all clients. It's to reflect the increase in prices as general costs continue to increase. However we continue to provide value for money service and a skilled and precise way of releasing tension held in the body.
Think well, become well
At J.R.T we continue to study, learn and explore all things muscular. I came across this article recently regarding the role of focusing on pain in regards to our recovery and well being. There has always been huge arguments to support the distraction technique and the fact that the more we focus upon our pain the more we become sensitive to it and it can become psychosomatic.
However this study is interesting because it highlights how we can use our mind to also increase our healing and reduce the pain. As many of you who have attended my sound bath will know, I often emphasise how we all have the ability to relax our body and in turn to bring about wellness to ourselves, so it's interesting to see an article which reflects some of this.
The article suggests that if we focus upon the area and on it getting better, it can speed up the recovery and reduce the inflammation there. Defintely worth trying!
Ways to de-stress and relax
- Meditation and mindfulness is always a good place to start - you can find lots of guided meditations on Youtube.
- Spending 5 minutes in silence each morning preparing for the day ahead.
- Trying to get into the sun/nature for short periods of time each day, to boost your vitamin D levels and to boost the mood. Time spent in nature lowers our blood pressure levels and boosts our immune system and general mood.
- Music is a wonderful way to de-stress and relax, from listening to calming music, to playing music which allows you to dance and remove the tension from the body that way.
- Journaling is a great way of writing down where your mind is at and it helps you to recognised patterns in your emotions and feelings.
Wishing you all a good few weeks whilst I am away and as mentioned, do get in touch if you would like to schedule something before I leave on 1st September.
